Display & Output
Send scripture to your projector or production software. Integrate with OBS and vMix for online streaming.
RheoCast separates the operator view (what your media team sees) from the display output (what your congregation sees on screen). This guide covers every output option.
RheoCast outputs scripture — not a full video stream. To reach viewers on Facebook, YouTube, or your website, use RheoCast as a scripture layer inside OBS, vMix, ProPresenter, or similar software. See Streaming to Facebook, YouTube, and More below.
Display Output Modes
Configure the primary output under Settings → Output → Display Output Mode.
Windowed
A separate draggable window showing the current verse. Available on all plans.
Best for: Testing, preview monitors, picture-in-picture setups, or running RheoCast alongside other presentation software.
Fullscreen (Second Display)
Automatically fills an external monitor or projector. Available on Pro and Ministry plans.
Best for: Dedicated projector output in a sanctuary. Connect your second display before launching RheoCast.
Save settings after changing output mode. The display window reconfigures when you switch modes.
NDI Output
Available on Pro and Ministry plans.
NDI sends RheoCast's verse output as a network video source that production software can receive directly — no HDMI capture card required.
Setup
- Open Settings → Output.
- Enable NDI Source.
- Set your Source Name (visible on your network, e.g.
RheoCast-Main). - Choose Resolution (1080p recommended) and Frame Rate (30 fps is standard).
- Save settings.
Adding to production software
| Software | Steps |
|---|---|
| OBS | Add Source → NDI Source → select your RheoCast source name |
| vMix | Add Input → NDI / Desktop Capture → select RheoCast |
| ProPresenter | Add NDI input from the source list |
Ensure all devices are on the same local network. NDI performs best over wired Ethernet.
Browser Source (Web Overlay)
Available on Pro and Ministry plans.
The Web Overlay serves a local web page that OBS, vMix, or other software can load as a Browser Source — ideal for transparent scripture overlays on streams.
Setup
- Open Settings → Output.
- Enable Web Overlay.
- Copy the generated URL shown in settings (click Copy).
- In OBS (or your streaming software):
- Add Browser Source
- Paste the URL
- Set width/height to match your stream resolution (e.g. 1920×1080)
- Enable Shutdown source when not visible if desired
The overlay is transparent until a verse is displayed, then shows the scripture with your configured appearance settings.
Appearance Customization
Open Settings → Appearance to customize how verses look on screen.
Background
- Solid color — Simple black or brand color
- Gradient — Two-color gradient with adjustable angle
- Image — Upload a custom background image
- Transparent — For NDI and browser overlay compositing
Typography
- Verse font — Choose from built-in and Google Font options (Georgia is the default)
- Font size — Default is 48px; adjust for your venue's screen size and viewing distance
- Bold, uppercase, alignment — Fine-tune readability
- Text outline & shadow — Improve legibility over busy backgrounds
Reference line
Customize the book/chapter/verse label separately:
- Reference color and font
- Reference size and alignment
Changes preview in real time. Click Save Settings to apply.
Clearing the Display
Press Escape at any time to clear the current verse from the output (closes Settings first if open). The overlay returns to its empty/transparent state.
Verses update the Display Preview in the operator window even when Go Live is off. Go Live must be ON for verses to reach the external output.
Output Comparison
| Method | Transparency | Best for | Plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windowed | No | Preview / testing | All |
| Fullscreen | No | Projector | Pro+ |
| NDI | Yes (alpha) | Pro broadcast workflows | Pro+ |
| Browser Source | Yes | OBS / streaming overlays | Pro+ |
Streaming to Facebook, YouTube, and More
RheoCast does not stream video to the internet. There is no built-in RTMP output, no direct Facebook Live integration, and no YouTube streaming button in the app.
What RheoCast does provide is a scripture layer that your existing streaming stack can include. Your media team continues to use OBS, vMix, Wirecast, or similar software for cameras, audio, and platform streaming — RheoCast adds verses on top.
Typical online service workflow
- Set up your stream as usual — Cameras, sermon audio, and stream destination (YouTube, Facebook, etc.) in OBS or vMix.
- Add RheoCast as a scripture source — Use one of these methods:
- Browser Source — Enable the web overlay in RheoCast, paste the URL into OBS as a Browser Source (transparent overlay).
- NDI — Enable NDI in RheoCast, add an NDI Source in OBS/vMix on the same network.
- Projector + capture — Fullscreen RheoCast on a second display captured via HDMI or window capture (simplest, but less flexible).
- Start transcription — Click Start in the operator window (below the transcript) so scripture is detected during the sermon.
- Turn Go Live ON — Enable the toggle on the Display Preview panel so detected verses reach your output.
- Start streaming in OBS/vMix — Your stream includes both your video mix and RheoCast scripture overlays.
What each tool is responsible for
| Tool | Role |
|---|---|
| RheoCast | Listen to sermon audio, detect scripture, display verses |
| OBS / vMix / ProPresenter | Camera switching, graphics, compositing, streaming to platforms |
| YouTube / Facebook / etc. | Receive the final stream from your production software |
Creator Studio vs live streaming
After the service, Creator Studio can generate social media posts (text for X, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) from your sermon transcript. That is post-service content — not live video streaming during the service.
Tips for Production Teams
- Test before service — Verify your NDI or browser source appears in OBS/vMix with correct transparency.
- Match resolutions — Set NDI and browser source dimensions to your stream output (usually 1080p).
- Separate machines — NDI allows RheoCast to run on one computer while OBS runs on another.
- Save appearance presets — Configure once, then reuse across services.
